Campaign Creation: Forecast: Blanket Required

Client:

Speculative concept — unsolicited

The insight didn't come from a brief. It came from my own closet — or more accurately, my car, my couch, my dog's travel bag, and at least three other places in my house where a Rumpl lives on permanent standby. I own more than ten. I've gifted even more. And somewhere along the way I realized that wasn't unusual for a Rumpl owner. It's almost the point.

"Forecast: Blanket Required" starts with that behavioral truth: Rumpl owners don't have one blanket staged for a specific adventure. They've quietly built a fleet, because comfort is situational and Rumpl has become the answer to every situation. The campaign leans into that with a platform built around readiness — not aspirational adventure fantasy, but the deeply relatable reality of a household that just always has one nearby.

The visual language borrows from weather apps — a format everyone checks before they do anything. Each execution presents a "forecast" tied to a specific moment: Couch Day: High of 68°, 90% chance of nothing. Blanket required. Or: Dog Beach: Partly cloudy, paws everywhere. Blanket required. The format is immediately recognizable, quietly funny, and infinitely adaptable across seasons, activities, and product lines. Every Rumpl in the lineup has a forecast.

The pet angle lives inside this platform as a natural sub-campaign. Rumpl already makes blankets for dogs. "Forecast: Dog Weather" gives that line a cultural hook aimed directly at Pacific Northwest pet owners who bring their dogs everywhere — which is essentially everyone in Portland. A user-generated component extends the campaign further: owners tag their Rumpl locations with the hashtag, feeding a real-time map of where Rumpl blankets currently exist in the world. Turns out they're everywhere. That's the whole point.
